Charity
A portion of our proceeds will go to the Pan Mass Challenge. The PMC  raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. Half Marathon Price = $70 per person, after March 17th, $75, after online registration closes and race day,(CASH ONLY),$85

Packet Pickup 
Packet pick up will be at the Greater Boston Running Company, 27 Water St. Newburyport, Friday, May 5th, 3-7 and Saturday, May 6th,10 am-3pm. The last day to sign up online and get a T-shirt is April 1, at 11:59 pm. SIGN UP NOW! The last day to sign up online will be Thursday, May 4th at noon. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT PICK UP YOUR PACKET ON RACE DAY. If you do need to pick up on race day it will be at Cashman Park starting at 7:30 am. COME EARLY! You may have somebody pick up your packet for you if you cannot make the packet pick up times.
If you need to do a late category change you can do this at pre- registration.
Race day registration and after online registration is closed, CASH ONLY if the event is not to capacity.

16 and up for 13.1

What you get
All  participants will receive a wicking t-shirt if registered by April 1st. All participants will receive food and beer. YOU MUST HAVE an ID IN ORDER TO BE SERVED BEER. The after party will be hosted by Evolvement Radio. Beer will be sponsored by Budweiser. Michael’s Harborside will be serving clam chowder. Agave Mexican Bistro will also be there serving chips and salsa.  All 13.1 participants will receive a finishers medal.

Cushing Park
Newburyport neighborhoods that surround the event have plenty of on street parking. Nearby streets that are adjacent to Merrimac Street are Kent, Broad, Tyng and Oakland. You cannot park on Dove, Carter and Warren. You will not be able to park on Merrimac Street during the run. Downtown Newburyport has a few lots available and is approximately a half mile from the event. This cost is .50/hour unless you find parking on the street. See above for local lots.

Prizes
Individual Prizes for 1/2 Marathon and 5k will be determined by age groups. All 13.1 participants will receive a finishers medal. Must be present to receive awards. Awards will not be mailed.

Course description
Want to run one of the most scenic and flat courses in Newburyport? Choose to run the Newburyport half marathon this year. This race starts and ends a few blocks from historic downtown Newburyport. The course travels along scenic Water Street which offers great views of the Merrimac River. Take a right on Bromfield St. and a left on High St. You will then take a right on Summer St. and then a quick left on Washington St. The last half mile of the race takes you down the rail trail, past the Newburyport Harbor and into Cashman Park, where you will be greeted by family, friends and the great sounds and energy at the Finish Line Festival. It’s a race that can’t be missed! The race will start on Merrimac St at the bottom of Oakland St. in Newburyport, MA. The Finish will be at Cashman Park in Newburyport. The after party festivities will take place at Cashman Park.

Course Map and Route for 13.1
Start at the bottom of Oakland Street near the North End Boat Club on Merrimac St. Follow Merrimac St. along the Merrimac River until you reach Rolf’s Lane. Take a right on Rolf’s Lane, travel to the end and cross over High St. on to Hanover St. Follow Hanover St. until it splits and stay to your left onto Green St. Follow Green St and at the next intersection take a right onto Hay St. Follow Hay St. until you see Newman Rd. on your left. Turn Left on Newman Rd. and follow through the marsh until you get to your next intersection. At the end of Newman Rd. take a right onto High Rd. Cross over the Parker River and pass the River Front Marina and then take a right on Old Rowley Road. Turn back around after .4 miles and come back to High Road. Cross over High Road to Newbury Neck Road. Bare left and stay on Newbury Neck Road and enter back on to High Road. Travel down High Road back into Newburyport and take a right on Summer Street then a left on Washington and then a quick right onto the Rail Trail. Stay on the Rail Trail until you get to the water then take a left and enter into Cashman Park. The finish is at the tennis courts.

The following are time limits that participants have to complete their events: The race time limit is 4 hours. 13.1 and 5k events will both start at 9:15 am.  Runners need to return to the finish line by 1:15 pm.

We Hold Your Valuables 
Race Key USA travels to road races, triathlons, marathons, etc. and offers a unique service to competing athletes. For $2 we check competitor’s car keys, bags, t shirts, cell phones and more. … we store them in a Race Key USA van while they compete in the event. A Race Key USA van will be parked in a designated area and attendants will be with the van at all times during the event. We stay on site until all belongings have been picked up.

Start/Finish Line Stretch and Recover
The team from ProEx Physical Therapy will be joining us at the start and finish line on race day, where physical therapists from the Amesbury location with be providing complimentary stretching for athletes and their families. For those of you have some aches and pains, their experienced staff will also be offering free injury screening, providing advice on the most efficient way to get you going again. ProEx Physical Therapy is physical therapy owned practice with 18 locations throughout MA,NH and CT.

Start Time
9:15 am
Please make sure to arrive at starting line on time. Don’t worry about when you’ll cross the starting line. Whenever you cross the start line, your chip will go off, so no need to push towards the front. Take your time and make it YOUR race! See you at the start line!

Finish Line Festivities
Fuel will be hosting a post race party at the finish line, which is located at Cashman Park.  Race participants will enjoy complimentary food and beer. Evolvement Radio will be playing all your favorite tunes. Budweiser will be suppling the beer.

Training Programs
Fuel will be offering 1/2 marathon and 5k training in Newburyport, MA
Fuel will be starting 1/2 marathon training on March 4th. This will be a 10 week training to get you READY to run 13.1 miles, WAHOO! Please go HERE and choose the RUN TRAINING Tab from the top. We will also be offering a couch to 5k training as well. You can sign up for either the same way.

13.1 will meet Saturdays at 7:30 am. Meagan will be there with you to train. We will have an informal meet up group on Thursday mornings at 5:45 am for those that would like a little more accountability during the week.

5k Training is TBD.

FAQ’S
Can I sign somebody else up for the run?
No! Sorry we have had too many issues with unsigned waivers to allow this.

Can I transfer my name to somebody else?
YES! You will be charged a $10 transfer fee. You can do this by going into myevents.active.com

Can I change my event category?
YES! You will be charged a $10 transfer fee. You can do this by going into myevents.active.com

Can I get a refund?
No, there are no refunds, no exceptions, but you can transfer your sign up to somebody else for a $10 transfer fee or if you purchased Insurance then you can call 888.497.6987. You can also post it on Facebook or Instagram to try to find somebody that will buy the entry from you.

Can I get insurance just in case I can’t participate in the run?
YES! The River Run has a strict no refund policy; however you can protect your race registration fee by purchasing Registration Protector for just $7 through Allianz Global Assistance. Simply add this option to your cart as you are registering for our event.
If you purchased insurance and need a refund, please contact Allianz Global Assistance directly at 888.497.6989 to make a claim or visit their website. You can also call 888.497.6987 for general customer service questions. Unfortunately we cannot help you with any claims as they are all managed through Allianz.

Can somebody else pick up my bib at packet pick up?
YES!

Can I run with a stroller? 
Yes, but you will have to start at the back of the pack.

Can I run with my dog?
Sorry, please leave the pups at home as it will be very crowded and some people are uneasy around dogs.
